Yuji Yasui has received M.S. degree in robotics from Tokyo University of Science in 1994, and Ph. D in automotive control from Sophia University in 2012. He has worked for Honda R&D Co., Ltd. since 1994 and is the chief engineer of powerplant systems for green vehicles. He researched the engine management controls using adaptive controls for clean gasoline vehicles meeting ULEV and SULEV categories in US, and developed the world’s first ULEV and SULEV vehicles released in 1997 and in 1999 respectively. He has researched the clean diesel technologies for US LEV III and Euro-6 emission legislations, and published the world’s first SULEV diesel concept using several advanced controls. He has the experience of researches for the control algorithm for electrical controlled throttle, for the HEV system using AMT (Automated Manual transmission), for the engine management control for the advanced engine equipped with a continuously variable lift and phase mechanism and a direct injection system, and for the traction control for F-1 racing car also.
