TC 7.2. Marine Systems
Welcome Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Web page of the IFAC Technical Committee on MARINE SYSTEMS.
The key objectives of this Technical Committee are to:
- promote discussions on theoretical and practical issues pertaining to the design, development, and operation of marine systems, including those that are at the root of advanced navigation, guidance, and control for surface ships and marine robots
- foster the organization of international events (workshops, special sessions, conferences, and summer schools) in the above and related areas. This serves the dual purpose of bringing together key academic and industrial practitioners for discussions and demonstrations of recent advances in navigation, guidance and control of marine craft and to provide a forum where experienced researchers can engage with each other and with postdoctoral students in order to share experiences, motivate new research agendas, describe and analyse scientific and commercial applications, and explore new avenues for future research.
- seek strong symbiotic links between academia and the industry
- contribute to the dissemination of technical activities related to marine systems to the student population and the public at large (outreach activities)
The Technical Committee organizes the following event every year (with the exception of the year when the IFAC World Congress takes place)
- CONFERENCE ON CONTROL APPLICATIONS IN MARINE SYSTEMS, ROBOTICS AND VEHICLES (CAMS) The 15th edition of this event will be held in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, September 3-5, 2024 (https://ifac-cams2024.org)
The TC Marine Systems is also keen on co-sponsoring the organization of other events organized by other TCs, of which the following are representative examples:
- SYMPOSIUM ON CONTROL IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
- WORKSHOP ON MULTIVEHICLE SYSTEMS
- SYMPOSIUM ON INTELLIGENT AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
The TC Marine Systems welcomes your views, suggestions, and ideas on possible lines of action to further increase the symbiotic links between academia and the industry, carry out outreach activities, and contribute to the definition of new academic curricula.
