Dr. Yu Yuan is a Research Staff Member at IBM Research – China. As a veteran researcher in areas of Vehicular Technology, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Consumer Electronics, and IOT (Internet of Things), he is leading the research on Smarter Transportation and other location based services in IBM China. Meanwhile, he is co-founding IBM IOT Technology Center, which is a collaborative innovation platform for IOT research and development with industry and academia partners. Dr. Yu Yuan has filed 18 patents and received IBM Invention Achievement Plateau awards for five times. Two of his patents were further awarded IBM High Value Application awards. He is currently serving as the Invention Development Co-chair of IBM Research – China. Dr. Yu Yuan has published extensively in referred conferences and journals, and has served on program/organizing committees of many major conferences. As an enthusiast in professional communities, he is currently serving as the publicity chair of Land Transportation Division of IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, the co-chair of IEEE Technical Committee on Software Infrastructure in Intelligent Transportation Systems, the vice chair of IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Beijing chapter, and the vice chair of IEEE Consumer Electronics Society Beijing chapter. Dr. Yu Yuan received his Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Tsinghua University. He is a senior member of IEEE and a senior member of ACM.
