IFAC TC Award for Control DPS

Dear TC DPS colleagues,
I have been asked to chair the selection of the Second recipient of the IFAC TC Award for Control DPS. The following distinguished colleagues have kindly agreed to be members of the committee: Luz de Teresa  •  Marius Tucsnak  •  Enrique Zuazua.

The deadline is February 1, 2025. Up to three reference letters may accompany the nominations. For other elements of the nomination package, as well as the eligibility, please see the attached call for nominations file.
The time until the nomination is relatively tight so that the winner can arrange for the travel to Beijing, and visa for China, to receive the award at the IFAC CPDE workshop on June 19.
I thank you in advance for putting in the effort to nominate deserving colleagues. Please think broadly in terms of the exceptional contributors to DPS. This is not an award restricted to the members of the TC but recognizing outstanding contributions in our broad field of DPS and PDE control.
As a reminder, the award is given in memory of Professor Ruth Curtain. This elevates the significance of the recognition for the recipient. Additionally, the efforts to nominate colleagues and support them with reference letters constitute contributions to maintaining the fond memory of Ruth.
Following concerns whether the nominee needs to be committed upfront to attending the 2025 CPDE in Beijing, with which the winner’s financial, health, visa, or other constraints might interfere, the TC and the selection committee would like to clarify that such an upfront commitment is not required. The award presentation at an IFAC CPDE workshop is the default option, to which many alternatives exist, both in terms of alternative presentation venues and in terms of a colleague possibly accepting the award on behalf of the winner at 2025 CPDE.
Best regards,
Miroslav Krstic
