13th IFAC Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles CAMS 2021

Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles (CAMS) has a long tradition as an
IFAC conference and continues to gain importance with research on highly automated and
autonomous systems. Such systems use approaches and methods from the social, human, and
natural sciences, leading to a new scientific discipline, autonomics. New technologies such as
artificial intelligence or machine learning lead to new solutions and technical functionalities that
were not feasible before. This was reflected in numerous contributions to CAMS 2021.
The global pandemic has been and continues to be a challenge for mankind, but also for
collaboration in the scientific community. Given the unpredictable impact of the pandemic on global
travel, the CAMS organizing committee had decided to hold the conference entirely virtually. We
were aware that we would miss many social interactions and shared coffee breaks, but we were
able to ensure that more researchers could participate this way.
We would like to thank all the contributors and the work of the reviewers and committees that
allowed us to prepare and hold a successful CAMS 2021.
