Actions taken in last months
Dear friends and colleagues,
First of all let you receive warm and sincere wishes for Christmas and the new Year.
At the end of this email you can find a short message that I have received from Bozenna Pasik Duncan our previous chair, to all members of the IFAC Control Education Committee TC 9.4.
Bozenna is now in the Technical Board of IFAC in a new position: "Education Liaison" that was created as the result of a long term recognition that all Technical Committees should be connected through education. From now on all the TC in IFAC will have a person in their Committees in charge of control education aspect. As I say in a previous email this is a good news for us because recognizes the commitment of IFAC with Control Education. Of course we are going to work on this period in a very close connection with Bozenna.
With this email I would like to say you where I have been doing some action with respect to the TC 9.4 in the last three months.
1) LIST OF MEMBERS OF TC 9.4
We have updated the list of members of the IFAC Control Education Committee TC 9.4 and we have submitted it to IFAC Secretariat. It was mandatory to do this task before end of the year.
In order to update in the TC 9.4 web site the information of all members, please could you send me a photo and a short CV; (6 lines maximum)?
2) SCOPE AND TASKS OF THE TC 9.4
We have reviewed and updated the previous TASK AND SCOPE of our Committee. Because we have not updated the web site of the TC 9.4 this changes are not reflected yet. I am attaching to this email the "Task and Scope of the TC 9.4"
3) NEW EVENT TO BE PLANNED NEXT YEAR BY TC 9.4: WORKSHOP ON "INTERNET BASED CONTROL EDUCATION" (IBCE15)
We have submitted to IFAC Secretariat the organization of a Workshop on "Internet Based Control Education" (IBCE15). This workshop will take place in Brescia University from 4-6 november 2015. The Chair of the National Organizing Committee will be Prof Antonio Visioli. Now we are waiting for the official approval from IFAC Secretariat and we expect to receive the approval in a short term. As soon as we know the decision we will contact again with you in order to ask your active participation and cooperation in the promotion of IBCE15.
4) STRUCTURE OF THE NEW EDCOM COMMITTEE
We will include this structure in the web site at the beginning of the new year:

Our purpose is to change substantially the contents of our web site trying to do it more dynamic and useful for all control education community with the cooperation of many members in this task. It will take the first trimester of the next year in order to show some visible changes
I am now working on the preparation of the strategy to begin a repository of educational material. I will say you more at the beginning of the next year.
I have nominated two persons as webmaster and to prepare the Bulletin of the Committee. These colleagues are quite close to me in order to maintain a strong interaction
5) NEXT ACE 2016
As you know it was decided in our past EDCOM Committee that next ACE will take palce in Bratislava next 2016. The Chair of the Sysmposium will be Prof Mikulas Huba . We have reached an agreement with Mikulas and ACE16 will take place in June 1st-3rd, 2016.
6) NEXT EDCOM MEETING
I plan to attend next ACC in Chicago next june and for that reason I would like to maintain a meeting of the EDCOM Committee during this event. I will try to do this meeting, if it is possible, in coordination with the AACC Committee on Education and the CSS Technical Committee on Education. We have the same focus and interest on Control Education.

A SHORT MESSAGE FROM BOZENNA PASIK DUNCAN TO ALL EDCOM COMMITTEE
Dear Members of the TC 9.4,
It has been my honor to serve as the two term Chair of this important committee. It is my great pleasure to pass the Committee to Sebastian who has been a Vice Chair of it for as long as I remember. The Committee reached a high recognition and status among all IFAC technical committees and we have all reasons to be proud of our collective work.
Sebastian is most passionate and enthusiastic about control education and with the record of his remarkable contributions to control education I have no doubts that he will continue making extraordinary contributions. I will collaborate with Sebastian and you very closely as the Liaison to the Technical Board. I would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your families the most enjoyable Holiday Season and Very Happy and Healthy New Year.
