Research and Development Interests: control system analysis and synthesis; engine powertrain system dynamics, modeling and simulation; advanced powertrain control and engine management systems; advanced propulsion technology including electrification of hybrid vehicles; intelligent diagnostics and prognostics.

 

Dr.Wang received his Ph.D in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1987. He was an assistant professor at SJTU, then an Alexander von Humboldt research fellow at Duisburg University Germany, and a visiting scholar at Syracuse University and Ohio State University. From 1995~2005, he was a technical advisor in Cummins Engine Inc. Since 2005, he has been with GM, and now is a technical fellow at Propulsion Systems Research Lab at General Motors Company. In industry practice, he leads advanced powertrain control development and applications for next generation vehicles. Dr.Wang has over 120 publications, and was granted 78 US patents and numerous international patents for automotive applications. He was the editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and the associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology.
