Max Mauro Santos was born in Brazil in 1968. He received B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Catholic Institute of Minas Gerais in Brazil (1993); M.E. in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil (1996); Ph.D. degree in Production Engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil (2004) and the Pos-Doctor in Electrical Engineering from University of Aveiro in Portugal (2005/2006).

In 2009, he joined at Volvo Powertrain Brazil, where is currently senior engineer in the control systems. He worked several years in the UnilesteMG university as associate professor and researcher, in IBM-Brazil and IBM-USA as automation engineer and the following universities: Univale-MG, Univali-SC, Uniplac, ECN-France. He was visiting professor in University of Porto (2003) and IRCCyN-France (2008).

He was consultant and instructor for companies in the areas of industrial automation and networks for industrial and automotive areas such as RCS, USIMINAS, ACESITA, FORD, AEA, Ciclo Engenharia, Senai/CIMATEC, GRABER, CNH and others.
